Sound:
Electronic music with a blending of other genre's. I love bigbeat, alt rock, chill out beats. The sound I think would come from a rhythtm based amalgamation. I record the songs first, then we play around with the sound and arrangements during rehersal. Kahuna King is really John Knight, but the diversity from all the people I collaborate with on a usual basis really throws things in that I wouldn't ever really think about, and for the better.
Show:
We usually start out with just playing the basic track that I record at home, then go with it and try everything that our spontaneous minds find interesting. I would say we are really a jam band because while we change up sections in a song, we really try to stick to the original version. Because of Kahuna King being first, an electronic artist and second, being performed by a live band, there is a sense of liveness that can't really be captured on cd and really, that's really not what I go for (the sts9 sound) when I record an album. But when we do progressive jam live, I think it makes it a bit more special because it's not just 89 prerecorded sounds being activated with midi controllers.

PC running Abelton Live 2, Reason 2.5, Acid 5.0, Cool Edit Pro 2, Sound Forge 7, Cubasis SX 2, Sonar 4. Fender strat, Ephinay six string, no-name bass guitar, various yamaha and roland keyboards. Phonic mm 1202 mixer, numark tt1625 turntables with a numark dm 950 dj mixer.
